Question AND CARROLL SHELBY SHOOTS HIMSELF IN THE FOOT!

Apparently, some here still can't tell when Ol' Shel is blowing smoke up their a$$e$.

Do you really think Carroll would "get even" by trying to get the government to change the very regulations that allow Shelby American, Inc. to sell CSX4000, CSX7000 and CSX8000 cars? What the heck are you smoking???

CS in Mustang and Fords 1/2003:

"The government isn't going to put up with these Cobras coming in from all over the place with no emmissions or safety standards. I don't know how much longer they will be able to take advantage of this loophole."

"They don't have to meet safety and emissions standards. You'd be surprised. With the Series I , we had to meet the same standards as General Motors."

If Mr. Shelby believes his Cobra problem is imported, and the government should stop imports - that's a trade issue.

If the problem is safety and emissions "loopholes", that's another story. Carroll's current 289 and 427 cars meet the same kit or speciality car definitions as all the other imported and domestic replicas in the American market.

Show me a CSX 4000, 7000 or 8000 that was delivered with airbags, a chime that reminds you to remove the ignition key, or bumpers meeting current federal standards. In fact, show me a 4000, 7000 or 8000 that was delivered with a drive train and completely assembled by S.A.I. (Completed Shelby replicas are assembled by third parties, i.e. dealers, not S.A.I.)

A completely assembled car LIKE THE SERIES I (CSX5000) must meet all new car standards. It is not a kit, but a full production piece like any GM or Ford.

Shelby would like you to believe that those bad imports are getting a break when in fact, he builds cars TO THE VERY SAME SAFETY AND EMISSIONS STANDARDS.

If Carroll "ratted out" the kit car guys and manages to close loopholes that allow for Cobra replicas in the United State without current emission and safety standards HE WILL PUT HIMSELF OUT OF THE REPLICA BUSINESS.

Carroll has to meet the same standards for his replicas and the imported Superformance. Or the domestic ERA or Unique, etc. It looks like Shelby is trying to paint imported replicas (SPF) as dangerous and noxious. Of course, his own original domestic replicas (some with Polish parts) are very safe and ultra clean.

CS may be mad at the Feds and California for holding his feet to the fire on the PRODUCTION Series I cars, but he knew full well what standards applied befor the first CSX5000 was built. He may be mad that people found out that his Continuation cars were made of all new parts, and he may be mad at Superformance's success, but that's not going to differentiate his kit cars from anybody else's - foreign or domestic.

Just more Snake Oil.
