If the gauge has a maximum reading of 60# on the face and if you "pegged" the gauge, it is possible that you are exceeding the limits of the gauge itself and damaging it internally.??? It is very possible to exceed 75# with a high volume, or high pressure pump. If it is an electrical gauge check the sending unit too.
