The cure for wheel hop is in the pinion angle and rear end gemoetry. Set that and Instant Center correctly, your 8.8 will never hop and will hook much harder. This is achieved through proper angle of you upper and lower rear control arms and how they would intersect toward the front of your car if extended by an imaginary line. Your driveshaft angle between tranny & rear effects even power application.
Try a search on www.ffcobra.com where this subject has been discussed in detail under drag race forum. Folks say you can drop the quads if all is done right with coilovers or even properly aligned coil spring /shock set up. I kept mine ...it just made me feel better. A fatter tire would be nice though !
