Golly - things sure are different in the USA!

An X5 too "cramped"?? Jaysus - those things are leviathans compared to most of the vehicles on our roads.

Anyways, to try to help - I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee - 4 litre model. Little by your standards. Towed the cobra on its trailer just fine. Stopped OK too. So towing at the upper limits of the manufacturers recommendations can be OK.

Mind you - when I used the Landrover Defender it didn't even know the trailer was attached!
