I didn't hear on the 60 minutes report but have heard from other sources:
The death rate for SUV's is actually higher per vehicle than most other cars due to "roll over" incidents. That makes sense when you consider a large percentage of the "drivers" of SUV's would not hesitate to "yank the wheel" when conditions become unfavorable and thus, "roll over". But the report I read was considering roll overs from several causes. Like a "post accident" hit followed by a roll over, or in the recent case of Ford, a tire blow out.
That took a lot of steam out of the "safty" argument for me. By the way, it is kinda funny Cobra owners talking about "safty", lol.
