The may issue has a little more information on the contest. I told my wife if I win the lottery I'm quiting my job and building a motor for this, she said she'd quit to and help me! Not that I'd have any chance of even placing but it sure would be fun!

Some highlights. 470 cu.in. limit. No race only heads like Dart Big Cheif. No roller cams. No exhaust port plates and things like that. I assume like last year the scoring will be based on average hp and torque over the street driving rpm ranges. Single 4V carburetor and distributor (non programmable) ignition, OE style valvetrain. And of course 92 octane.

So what would one build FE for this? I seriously doubt a SOHC would be allowed but I'm sure there will be chrysler hemis. I'm thinking a stroked 427 with tunnel port heads? I'm affraid you are going to need at least 900 peak HP to be in the running.

I sincerely hope some of our FE builders will be participating in this, anybody hear any rumors?

Chuck
