Thanks for the replies. I have seen some of the small journal (Honda) bearing size crank and rod assemblies for sale. Great stuff, but you'd want to be really careful to get a matched assembly.
Looking further, the very same big $$$ valve springs that I have in my motor are being offered for 1/6th of what I paid for them. I emailed the guy and he said if the springs had lost even 2lb seat pressure (from 240 down to 238), he'd take them back and give me a full refund
Chris P - I'm jealous! There are no shops anything like that over here - the only shops selling used racecar parts are just looking for the souvenir market. Hardcore parts just don't seem to come on the market. Thanks very much for the offer of picking up parts. I can't think of anything that I really
need at the moment - but that's not to say there aren't things that I
want !!! I'd better stop spending money for a while....
Ronzara - Scott (OZVENOM) made up a simple little bracket for my Wilwood pedal box that mounted a brake switch from some non-descript import car. That meant that I only needed to run a couple of wires to it, rather than cutting into the brake lines.
Hounddog - point taken about the lifters and rotating parts. If I buy anything for my motor, it has to be strong enough for a 400 cube supercharged combo, not just light enough to last 500 miles... For that reason, I'd be wary about using the titanium valves or the really light crank/rod combos. I can see me buying some of those pre-assembled Kevlar hoses and a dry sump assembly when my wallet recovers!
