Default Anyone know the roots of FFR?

I have heard, more than once, that the FFR body was a "kissin'-cousin" (so to speak) of the E-M body.

Mel recently posted a profile of his beautiful E-M; it reminded me of an old photo I had of one of the first FFRs... I had an identical profile shot.

I'll show the two below. Other than the peaked trunk lid on the FFR, the attributes, scaling, wheel arches and overall lines are very close. Rear wheel position asymmetry on the FFR is due to the chassis/rear differences.

Does anyone know the real story on the molds and "splash-source" of the FFR body?
