Chuck,

You can check tdc at #1 without pulling off valve cover,.....romove #1 spark plug and rotate crank with wrench on crank pulley bolt, you can easily veiw piston in #1 cylinder with flashlight htrough plug hole, check ignition timing rotor to make sure it is pointing at #1plug wire, if not ,rotate engine 360.
