I was also in contact with a Butler-man named Alan---from California. It's interesting, when local New Englanders see a Cobra, they assume it's either an ERA or a Contemporary (or possibly an SPF wh/ are fairly common). "Butler" is a reference lost on them. If you think about it, Arntz's (being for all intents and purposes the FIRST replicas) weren't that
common---the production wasn't that long. After Butler took over, he had for a few years, a near monopoly. The run was around 100---which made them in the early-mid 80's the most numerous Cobra replica! Now they're rare.
I have always loved them, as you suggest. Clearly you love yours too.
