Everyone,
It is just a bit early to unveil this but since the "who's driving" subject has been brought up here goes.
Following last years Fling I pitched some ideas to DV for other methods of fundraising. One of Ed's points was that "our family" has given big time to CF through the DVSF and we needed to try to find ways to involve others. Hence the idea of a "DVSF Driveathon" was hatched. Same deal as walkathons and similar charity events only you will be soliciting a per mile CFF donation from friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. for your trip to DVSF!
Forum member Dan Stryffeler and I have been in touch working out details and Dan, being much more computer adept than I, has really taken charge and created an awesome sign up form and information package which will soon be posted to the DVSF website so that we can all print it and begin our sales pitch to potential sponsors. Very simply, we'll ask everyone to estimate the one way miles from home to London, Ohio (use mapquest or similar) so your sponsors have a figure to base their donations on. For instance, 200 miles and a pledge of 10 cents per mile would be a donation of $20. The amount per mile is determined by the person pledging the donation; it can be a penny or a dollar (strongarm tactics on your part to boost the pledge amount are up to you!). Option 2 is simply a flat donation amount, regardles of miles. This can be used if you're trailering in or even attending without a Cobra but would like to help build up the coffers.
Full details will be posted soon but I wanted to go ahead and get the plan out so we can all keep it in mind. Just think, this could turn into some REAL money for CF and Jenny if we do a little leg work! 300 Cobras averaging only $50 worth of pledged donations per would generate $15,000! I know some can go well over that fifty bucks with a little salesmanship!
I'll post an announcement when the info goes up on the site and then be badgering you all incessantly to beat the bushes for sponsors.
Thanks all, we can do this,
Jeff
