"What makes the sideoiler so expensive"?
I would venture a guess and say its purely supply and demand.
Its a 40 year old engine and there weren't many made in the first place.
Even Shelby himself couldn't get his hands on enough of them to the point he started to go with the more streetable 428 FE
They are very pricy puppies. If a true purist must have one, then I guess it becomes seller's market. As I said they are scarce enough to force the market very high for the quality engines and parts.
