Took a friend and fellow car nut for a ride last fall. We're just putzing around nice and easy and I'm explaining things about the car... then we stop at a red light. Nobody in sight. Nice stright in front of us. Light turns green...
I got the car rolling to about 20 first (to prevent leaving B.F. Goodrich all over the road). Then I
hammered it... the car YANKED us through 1st gear. Then it YANKED us through 2nd gear. He didn't say anything (that I could hear) during this phase. I let off the throttle completely at the top of 2nd and the engine braking threw us both into our belts. At this point, there was a slight pause, then.. "HOLY SH!T. This is the FASTEST car I have EVER ridden in!"
He couldn't stop talking about it the rest of the ride.
Later that day, he called and politely informed me that I should really warn passengers before doing that, "My neck hurts a bit. Man, you could seriously give someone whiplash in that thing if you didn't warn them first." He was very polite about it.
Now I warn people (or only use 1/4 throttle). Speaking of which, I find that 1/4 or 1/2 throttle is PLENTY for scaring passengers (and driver). I can't remember the last time I actually floored it completely.
