Porting the intake can cause a stumble due to loss of velocity in the intake runners. Now you have a longer dead spot for the accellerator pumps to overcome before the boosters have fuel drawn from them. I am noe very familiar with Webers, but you might not need a large volume of pump shot, but a smaller squirter orifice to lengthen the pump shot duration.
