Don, Have you checked the timing? It is possible that the distributor was moved during the oil change. Also, check the rotor. If you have an MSD with the round rotor, the contact can slide in the slot on the rotor and the result is backfire and poor idle as you arc to plug wires. This has happened to me and my car had the symptoms that you describe.
