Rick - you are absolutely right, I used to use the "ignition kill" approach to build up
oil pressure on a cold start before letting her fire up on my old car.
But since I have the accusump now (primarily fitted to maintain pressure on the track ) it doubles up neatly for starting.
You still have the problem though, on an
oil change, of turning the engine over quite a bit to prime the filter and lines, (and now the empty accusump as well), so that's why I pull the plugs.
I would not even think about this for the daily driver (besides, I never change the
oil - the shop does it), but when you have several thousand £££s or $$$s invested in your engine (and a rare one if it's a 427SO) then any little thing you can do to protect it has to be worthwhile.
