Actually they both bought Rolls Royce! It was a tough battle but VW got screwed in the last round. They were both bidding on the purchas of Rolls Royce and VW won. BMW was pi$$ed and found a loophole. You see VW purchased all the plants and tools but the most crucial part was the Rolls Royce name. Rolls Royce Aerospace has the trademark on the name so BMW went to Rolls Royce Aerospace and basically bought the right to use the Rolls Royce name. So all they are doing is slapping the RR logo on their high end makes & calling it a Rolls.
