I used a steel square tube, 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" for the front of the seat, plus it has a 5/16" teflon spacer under that. On the rear I played around with the position of a 1" square steel spacer until I got the seat about 3/8" off the floor. I didnt want to use the seat bottom on the floor with a spacer up front. This works for me as I am 5' 9". Drilling through the floor pan works fine, you can use some large steel fender washers on the bottom, I used them made out of stainless steel.
