Cheesepocket, Welcome to the ERA sinners club. I gave up on trying to get a correct looking FE expansion tank to work and finally went with a remote Harrison aluminum tank. I mounted mine on the right side shock tower after making an aluminum adapter. It looks great all polished up and is actually nearly correct since Shelby used these on his 289 models. The Harrison unit comes in various outlet configurations so shop around. I connected the thermostat bypass hose to the Harrison top hose fitting and feed the water pump bypass inlet from the bottom tube of the Harrison tank. It works great!
