I have a '63 427 center oiler C3AE that I am putting together. All the machine work was supposedly done by Eagle Racing in Southern Michigan when I bought the block and all the parts. So far everything is at spec according to Steve Christ's book on Fe big blocks.
My question is about the
oil-pressure relief valve found in the rear
oil gallery immediately above the cam shaft. I pulled the gallery plug to check if the valved had been shimmed to increase
oil pressure and NO valve to be found. Do I need the valve or can it be left out, since I have the high volume oil pump from Precision Oil Pumps which already has a pressure relief valve installed ? The valve in the pump has had the spacer install to increase oil pressure. I may remove it if the pressure is too high.
