I am in engineer in N. Calif. If you need a failure analysis on the alledged "part failure" feel free to contact me. We have a facility in the south bay and would be happy to help.

I say this not to cast dispersions on your shop or the owner but as often as not the loose nut is behind the steering wheel in cases like this. Please preserve and retain any and all parts until you are fully satisfied with the outcome.
