Well lets see what name we are this month. We have velcro on our shirts.....LOL. I work for Texas Genco which is 80% owned by Centerpoint Energy. We split into 2 companies which are Reliant Resources and Centerpoint Energy. Before we ever heard of deregulation we were Houston Lighting & Power which was owned by Houston Industries. Texas Genco consists of about 9 or so electric generating stations in southeast Texas. Mainly around the Houston area with exception to Limestone plant up near Buffallo Texas and STP in Bay City. We only get about 44% of the power from the nuke plant towards Houston the rest goes to Corpus, Austin and SanAntonio (when they run). I work in the Steam Generation Dept. I travel to all the stations to work on the boilers (a boilerrat). For the past 3 years I have been planning and scheduling for outages (shutdowns) sitting behind a computer screen. Almost 23 years with the company. Patrick Jones.
