Default Other Fords w/ 427 SO

There are those times when my mind wanders, times I feel that my memory banks have been overwritten and times I am just plain wrong, but as I recall the '64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt had the 428 engine.

A similar thought is coming forth on the Cougar that Shelby toyed with. I think it is distinguished by having a horrizontal bar over the headlight door.

Another thought just popped up. Was the "R code" the designation for the 427 SO? Didn't all 427's become SO after the development of the eingine?

There is a '65 Falcon Sprint convertrible that has a 427 in it and is displayed at several shows here in the Central Coast of California.
All indications on the display information lead one to believe that it is an original car.
I have not had the opportunity to discuss that with the owner.
