The way these have given up it looks as though someone may have heated them to settle them to correct height. This loses the temper of the spring and they settle just where they've been heated. Something to bear in mind when specing out replacements. Look also at a coilover replacement. They are more adjustable for height spring rate etc and are more cost effective than they used to be.
