That doesn't necessarily tell you whether it's real or fake. Apparently, the Lexus driver has never heard of the 'glass 4000 series cars.
But I agree with Bob, it probably was meant as a compliment. If he had to ask, he obviously couldn't tell whether it was real or fake. Thus, by saying "nice fake", he was admitting that it looked so good he was fooled and couldn't tell whether it was "real" or fake. Wouldn't you rather have someone tell you that your car was a nice fake rather than a bad fake.
traveller- Don't pick on Bob. I just took delivery of one gorgeous fake designed by his Reebok wearing self. In fact, I like it so much, I may buy him another pair of Reeboks. Of course if I buy them at the dollar store, they very well might be Reebocks.
