To fill a new tranny, pour in 4 quarts, then start engine. These will be pumped into the torque converter, so immediatley add 3 more qts. while it is running. Still while running, put the tranny in all of the gears to be sure they all "catch" and circulate fluid.

Look under the car to check for leaks.

Put in park and while still running check fluid. It will be low. Add fluid until full.
