i used a u-haul trailer two times to transport my spf, with 3-1/2 inch clearance at bottom of bellhousing. yours will sit higher than that w/o drive train....i had to remove their license plate to not have it hit the car and i raised the front end of the trailer to lessen the ramp angle. trailer worked great behind a navigator. a hd high gvw tow vehicle is required as their trailers are typically steel and weigh in at 2000+ pounds or so and they match the tow vehicle on their puter to the car weight gvw to make sure the puter says YES re adequate tow vehicle per their guidelines. i am guessing your car must weigh about 1850-1950 pounds as a roller so that helps in tow vehicle need. takes a class 3 hitch. trailers have surge brakes so no elec brake module is needed. now, getting that sucker up on the trailer without an engine will take some doing, how many friends will help you push it on/off. off is easier, once you get the front tires out of the recessed area if the trailer has them. but the uphill movement is tougher...\
when i used them 18 mos ago, they did not have 'cobra' in their computer for weight (they did not want to use my claimed weight from my spf spec sheets..duh) , but when i told them to try A/C with a 1964 model year, it suprisingly popped up as a vehicle in their data base. they probably have lots of folks understating the weight thereby requiring a lesser sized tow vehicle, so suspect that is why they use their data base weight files.
do not tow car with a car cover. do not tow car with a tonneau or top on. expect possible stone chips on front from tires of tow vehicle unless you can somehow protect it..however, anything you put on it that blows in the wind, ie car cover, will also abrade / mar your paint by whipping in the wind . so take your chances. if tow vehicle has mud flaps, then not as much a worry. \
good luck, enjoy the ride...if you know someone who will loan or rent an enclosed trailer, then you will be better off..especially if it is raining...duh. bet you figured that out already.
