If it helps, the
oil should enter the filter through the ring of holes in the outer edge, and come out (and hence go back into the engine) through the central hole.
Check to see if your piping is correct - maybe all you have to do is swap the pipes over on the remote filter head.
The reason you may have no pressure is that if your piping is reversed, the anti drain-back valve in the filter blocks the flow of
oil. Many an engine builder has fallen foul of this, so don't even think you are the first!
