Another Two Cents
First , I think we do owe each other a little benefit of the doubt in all things, particularly all things cobra. The people on this site are frequently hard-charging, self-made men (yes, mostly men) who ask for no quarter and give none. We also tend to be impulsive, maybe like seeing your first cobra and having it stick in you like an unanswered itch until....you MAKE it happen. The other day I read "life is so hard, how can we be anything but kind to each other." Just ask Team Jenny. So, senior or not, newbie or not, let's take note of the logs in our own eyes and let the motes fall where they may.
Second , I will miss Hal utterly here, but hope to get time with him via the Superformance Forum and in person at the occasional SPF shindig. He has taught me much about this car, this hobby, and just being, and I hope that he's not done with me yet.
Finally , I venture to say that this was the right choice for Hal. What was an uneeded poke in the eye of an amateur writer and hobbiest, turned out to be an opportunity for self-evaluation. Hal saw how much time he was spending gabbing rather than living. Certainly with his history of service, both military and medical, he could see how he was parsing out his life. So I say good on him and, as he comes back into balance, he may come back and visit in a temperate manner. And when he does so, let's limit the pebbles we spray on him..
OK, it was 6 cents. Sorry.
