Just curious...

I read an article in Road and Track, (Peter Egan), about driving a 1965 289 Cobra from California back to North Carolina. In the story, he mentions the original bill of sale shows the price at $5779.55.

What were other performance sports cars selling for about that time... like the Corvette or Jag?

I always assumed the Cobra kinda priced itself out of the market, but at the last cruise, a Corvette guy said his 66 Coupe cost about $6000... thought that was high, but I couldn't argue the point out of sheer ignorance.
