I've allways used a voltmeter gauge instead of a amp gauge. It takes you a while to learn how to read them, but they tell you MUCH more about what's going on.
I concour with Mr. Fixit. If you've had no problem with low batterys- then nothings broke. Tis time to worry about something else.
