My son used Total Seal rings in his 383 Chevy build. They used a quart of
oil in 80 miles! He called Total Seal, explained the problem, and they sent him their very best street rings, and their dry break in lube. He followed instructions to the "t", and they used a quart of
oil in 80 miles, and fouled the plugs. He is a mechanical engineer, and has been building engines for quite awhile, so he isn't a sloppy mechanic. Quite the opposite, he's so fussy, he drives me nuts! By the way, this engine project is in a Chevy s10, not the easiest vehicle to remove and replace the engine in. I would run, not walk from those rings for street use. They do well in racing applications, but are awful for any kind of street use. I've heard a few similar horror stories about them for street engines, but Total Seal acts clueless if you ask them about this problem. Now we have to remove the engine for the third time, and use the "cheap" rings that actually work!
