Although those are original magnesium, that's not a natural finish...

...they are just plain-old-painted with a cold-zinc gray paint.

KK- remember that the S/C had the extra lip (approx 1") added to the rear wheel well... and its actual size differed from car to car; further, any body repair over the years would tamper with the original lip, more than likely.

Here is a side view of Comp car, CSX3008. You can see the lip is missing, but you can eyeball the ride height.
