Has anybody got a wiring diagram for the inards of a standard Ford regulator? or at least a detailed explanation. (I have a general understanding but not the specifics) I'm trying to figure out how my alternator worked without a field connection to the regulator. Wire went into the harness but just stopped a foot or so in. Regulator side had a wire too but I didn't waste time pulling off all the tape. Of course I fixed it but won't be able to test for a few days while I get radiator reinstalled.

I have been chasing a dimming lights at idle problem for some time and expect a better situation now but am terribly curious as to how it worked at all.
