I have the autometer speedo and haven't had a problem with it. For you to be having the problem you described, fluid must somehow be traveling up your speedo cable from the trans- which seems odd. I would pull the end of the speedo cable out of the trans and take a look at it. By the way, I checked out the pics of your new BDR, car looks very nice.
