I used to live in England (6 years) and saw all the cobra manufacturers when I was there -1989-96. This was when Carroll Shelby was pushing his heart foundation for kids. And the guy who owned Ram at the time signed up with Shelby. what Shelby's pitch was, If a manufacturer "signed up" he would give Shelby $1,000 on every Cobra sold. In return, Shelby would give an "authorized status" and a signed plaque and/or letter to that effect. Ram was the only replica/kit car mfg that signed up for the program. BTW the manufacturer was guaranteed that no suit or court action would be taken against either. Good 'ole boy stuff.
