Both motors are good and I have had BOTH in my car.
Started with the 428PI and switched to a 427SO when I had the parts together. The 427 used the same intake, carb , C.R., and exhaust of the 428 , but different cam and heads ( Dove ). In my case the 427 felt MUCH stronger than the 428. Heads/cam makes a difference.
ENTDOC is correct however, you grow weary of people asking is "that a real 427 motor"?. ( after driving my car for 20 years, I have heard it all )
Thus I would go with the 427, if funds allow. Good luck
