Stuart - any cars in Qld that are going for a 2003 Compliance Plate have to jump through hoops to get their car registered. Depending on who you talk to seems to determine the Emissions Level that you have to pass. I've spoken to engineers who will approve a 5.0L motor, and others who would require the new BA motor (or Chev/Lexus equivalent).

I wouldn't bank on being able to do the interstate tango when registering your car. It might be worth speaking to the transport department and engineers (hypothetically speaking -- without giving them your name), and seeing what they have to say...
