A very solid and accurate observation. I was shocked to learn in the early 90s that timing chains WERE STRONGLY urged to be replaced at 60K miles in most cases, 45K in others. At the time we had a Maxima V-6, and I had the V-6 that was in the Acura, although I the dumbass thought a Sterling was more intriguing than an Acura (essentially same car underneath). Wifey poo drove through a 30 something degree puddle with her Maxima. Iron block and aluminum heads do not do well after they shock cool together. Heads were toast. Back to thread topic.
