Default Need Toploader Rebuild Help

OK....I'm gonna clarify this....the input bearing retainer holds the input shaft and bearing where it needs to be....and the tailhousing holds the output shaft bearing in place, correct?

OK....so I've already went through the whole tranny....taken it apart, replaced parts, cleaned, etc...Everything turns freely...I don't have the 3rd/4th gear side detent plug & bolt in yet because I ordered a brand new one.

Here's the cliff hanger...with the tailhousing off, the output shaft has end play in it...like a lot...probably .060". When I hold against the output shaft and press it into the input shaft to take the slack out, everything turns perfectly. I can shift it....1st/2nd/Reverse....no prob. When I put the tailhousing on and start snugging the bolts up...I can't turn either shaft.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?
