I was also surprised by Pat's statement. Obviously, we all carry our biases, and it depends on how any particular car was built, what components, etc. especially those built at home. I've seen some doggy ERAs and there are no doubt doggy Uniques running around too. But, to say Unique's do not "compare" favorably is a bit of a stretch. Unique also offers turn-key cars of very high quality, with high quality components (but you can't get one of those new for $42K either).

My bias is obvious, and we all rationalize our choices, but my turn-key car has been evaluated very highly by a number of extremely knowledgeable sources. I wouldn't compare it to an aluminum-bodied car, except in terms of performance, but it has stacked up very well against any other glass car. It is also closer to the CSX body style than many glass cars.
