Without differences in opinions, there would be no horse races.
I have never attempted to convince anyone that my car is an original or a replica cobra. I have always answered that "big lame-ass question" with, this car is a Butler. A NAF, a ERA, FFR, etc...
It is human nature, believe it or not, that one man receives some
satisfaction in convincing himself and you too, if you are that weak, that what you have is somehow inferior. The people that
dis your car for not being an original, are jealous. It is that simple.
I remember entering a vintage sports and race car show in Santa
Barbara Ca. back in 91'. It was unbelievable. They escorted my car to the top of a grassy knoll and parked me along side two original 289 FIA Cobras. Both had some racing livery. I did feel honored. Now, the judging went down. I watched from atop the hill as the judges pranced around looking at the cars. My Butler and the two original Cobras didn't even get a glance. I noticed a lot of the Bugattis, Isotta-Fraschini Tipo's, etc. did not have the engine covers even opened. All the muscle car types got goose egged. Kind of puts thing in a perspective. Are you happy with what you got? Sure you are! That's all that counts.
During another car show, an old, old lady walked up to my car and
tapped her knuckles on my front fender. She looked up at me in discust, and said "this isn't real". I sized her up (your never know if their packin') and said, " What the hell are your mumbling about? It is a real car, ain't it? She left.
