Just registered my Unique a year ago. NC would not register the vehicle as a "65 even though the MSO stated that it was a "65 Ford Cobra replica. Still it is not a problem because all street rods, etc. are exempt from emissions inspection in NC. You do have to pass the safety inspections and you do have to get the DMV to inspect the engine and transmission to make sure they are not stolen and they have to file a report stating that. Be sure to have this done before before installing the engine!! Just follow the law... it ain't a problem and you won't have anything to worry about, including emissions.
