I think that one aspect of a jack stand you should consider is the shape of the weight bearing pad which comes in contact with your frame members. Some have flat bearing pads and others have a V shaped or cupped convex pad. If you have round tube chasis on your cobra then a convex or cupped pad would be best.
I am using the brand from AutoZone. They are the 3000 pound units with the slightly convex pad. They work well, are stable, and are coated well and they are large. I tie wrapped some shop cloths to them so as not to mar the powder coated frame on the ERA.
