The pilot is like 1.125" on this tranny...with just a 1/4" to go, the pilot should have already started up in it. It has to be either the input bearing retainer or just like one of the other members stated...it's just being stubborn...and I could draw it in with bolts.

When you support the clutch disk with the alignment tool. and then install the presure plate, you have to be darn sure that when tightning the bolts (suggest a little at a time in a criss/cross pattern) you don't disturb the alignment.
A lot of the plastic clutch alignment tools I've used have too much slop in them to hold the disk in PERFECT alignmeht with the pilot bearing. When available, I prefer to use a real input shaft to hold things straight while I tighten up the plate. I've even taken the input shaft off of the tranny I'm installing to align things up. The price of a new gasket is real cheap compared to the frustration of tring to get things straight with one of the plastic tools.
