427 Side-oiler - approx. horsepower?

Actually 600s, they were used a lot on Shelby's Mustangs .. and maybe the 428 and a few 427 Cobras. The BC-BDs (715 cfms) made it into the comp 427s. Carl's Ford has an exclusive deal with Holley and they continue to manufacture exacts copies of the BK-BJs and the BC-BDs expressly for Carl's Ford. I almost went with a set intead of having Quickfuel build me a pair of tricked out 750s.

Correct @ 600 cfm. I just bought a pair, Merry Christmas to me.

I am quite comfortable that the engine dyno work I paid for was accurate. No doubt a set of worked Edelbrock heads would flow and perform better. But I wouldn't trade my virgin MR heads for a set of stock Edelbrocks.

carbs arrived and are not as represented and they are going back to the seller. So I am still in the market for a deal on a set of BJ/BKs. Sorry for the thread-jack.

Yes, but they are out of stock on the the ones that are slightly used and half the price...

One of the guys over in fordfe.com had an "unadvertised" used set they were willing to part with several months ago. For the life of me I can't remember who it was. I'd try putting a WTB over in their classified section and see if you get any bites.

The new carbs are $1050 a set.. I've heard several horror stories from different people about the re-pops though.
