Wes;

What is your valve spring pressure?????? This has a lot to do with valve float.....Stock enignes do not have a lot of spring pressure and 5k for a stock 351 sounds right to me.....Also,your camshaft is a limiting factor in the rpms turned and 5k for a "stock" cam is correct....

I have found on 351-W's,you need at least 125 pounds of spring pressure to turn 6000 to 6500 rpm's without valve float,a little more would be better,but that would be my minimum....

I have also seen stock 351's with as little as 70 pounds of spring pressure from the factory,hardly enough to turn any kind of rpms over 4500.....
