Cameron,

Yes the intake is different but works well. It can also be milled a little and material taken off the upper near the valve cover to make a really compact arrangement. And, EGR is cast into the manifold so if you are using EGR it is a little simpler than the older style. I've converted 86-93 style to this newer style and it isn't that hard. You'll need a new style throttle body for sure, TPS if I remember, and new style fuel rails.
