I would recommend powdercoat. POR 15 is great for awhile, then it "chalks out" and leaves a white residue. Any anti corrosion compound will usually do the same thing. You might try SEM Rust-Shield in Gloss Black and add their 38008 hardner and gloss enhancer. This is as close to powdercoating as you can come and still do it yourself. SEM products are available at auto paint stores.
