need help from the 427 experts
Gearheads,
I looked at a 427 high rise engine yesterday. I can probably get the entire eng in pieces for $4500
I have a few questions:
1: what is a cherry 2-4bbl high rise manifold worth? (bare)
2: The heads look unmolested, but I think there are hairline cracks fom the spark plug holes to the intake valve seats. Is this a nail in their coffin, or is there a known procedure to deal with this problem that is cost effective?
3: the block is a solid lifter side oiler with no sleaves or other damage. he thinks it is .020 over.
When inspecting the block, are there any specific areas prone to cracking that I should pay attention to?
I am looking for specific info as to the 427 hi rise engine. I am fairly familiar with general inspection practices.
I am also trying to evaluate wheather the package would still be worth that price even if the heads are junk.
